Chardikala Down Under

Length: 10 minutes
Year Filmed: 2007

Chardikala Down Under is a short film describing the journey of IPS and Ruby Ahuja to Antarctica with six friends. They boarded the M/S Explorer on 7th January, 2007, at Ushuaia, the southernmost town on the planet; and crossed Drake's Passage during the night. The next day and a half involved attending lectures on Antarctica's history and its inhabitants. On January 10, they reached Brown's Bluff on the Antarctica peninsula. Believing in the adage that no matter where you go on Earth, you'll find a Sikh waiting for you, and wherever there are five Sikhs, there is a Gurdwara, they felt “obligated” to fulfill the adage. Since they could not build a Gurdwara (yet!), they decided on the next best thing—hoist a Nishaan Sahib, with the help of everyone on the ship. This is a brief film on good times with friends on a unique adventure.
